Well, here I am.  Believe me when I say I never thought I would be sitting here and writing this.  God is so incredible and will lead you into things you could never dream of if you only listen and follow.

How I Came to the World Race

The first thing about the race in my journal was written back in May.  I knew one person who was just getting back from her gap year and another who would be leaving in the Fall, so I thought it might be helpful to connect them so the one leaving would be able to ask questions.

As soon as I thought that, another thought came into my head.  I should be doing this. I’m supposed to do this.  It’s hard to explain, but I knew that I (my flesh) didn’t want to do it, but it was God who wanted me to do it.  I was thinking “I just moved to a new city for college, I’m finally finding an awesome group of friends through Young Life and my church, and now I’m supposed to leave? Really?” Yes.  After praying about it over the next few days, it became clear that if I didn’t go on the race, I would be missing something incredible that God has planned for me.

My Route!

To make a long story short I applied and continued to pray, and at first wasn’t sure where I was going to go, even after praying about it.  It was such a lesson in the Holy Spirit’s personality.  He often lightly knocks on the door, and doesn’t kick it down if you don’t open it.  I’ve had Cambodia and Swaziland (now called eSwatini) in the back of my mind over the past few months, so I thought if  there was a route with both of those countries, I’d pick that one.  Sure enough, a couple weeks ago I picked a route with both of those countries!  I’ll be traveling to eSwatini, Ethiopia, and Cambodia next September for nine months!

What Now?

I would really appreciate your support in whatever ways you would like!  I’ll need all the prayer I can get as I prepare for this and your support in that is so important.  You can also donate to my trip on this page to help pay for food, housing, and transportation over these nine months.  Also, check out the song Follow You Anywhere by Passion, that was kinda my anthem when I first found the race. 🙂
