Hey guys!  Just thought I’d post my support letter that I will be sending out soon.  Here it is.

Dear friends,

I hope you’re doing well!  I’ve loved living in Salt Lake City over the past year or so attending the University of Utah, but if you told me last year I would be writing this letter in the near future I probably wouldn’t have believed you.  I’ve seen God working in me and in the city around me so much over my time here.

I’ve been blessed over the past year with the opportunity to lead and hang out with an awesome group of high schoolers through Young Life, a non-denominational Christian organization.  I’ve also been part of an incredible church that is a family to me, filled with people my age who are so passionate about Jesus. In July, however, I committed to something God had strongly called me to only a couple months prior.

I’m excited to say that in September of 2020 I will be embarking on a nine month mission trip called the World Race Gap Year.  When God first put this on my heart I was thinking, “Really? Right now?  I just moved to a new city and started college and it’s not a convenient time…” but I soon realized that it might not be convenient for my time, but it’s God’s time, which will always be better than mine.  When I committed, the routes for 2020 had not been announced yet, so I had no idea where I would be going. Since then, Cambodia and Swaziland have been two countries that keep coming into my head, so I knew if there was a route that went to those places, it had to be the one.  Sure enough, the routes were released, and I will spend my nine months in Cambodia, Swaziland (now called eSwatini), and Ethiopia. I’ll spend my time loving people, preaching the Gospel, helping out in orphanages, planting churches, and ministering to all sorts of people who have been affected by genocide, human trafficking, and other evils.

That being said, I can’t make this happen on my own.  Above all I would love to have your support in prayer.  Please pray that my squad, my team, and I would stay encouraged and grow in the months leading up to launch, and that during the race we would trust in God and step out of our comfort zones in order to love people well and bring light to darkness.

Along with prayer support, I need to fundraise $15,800 to cover transportation, housing, food, insurance, and other expenses over the 9 months that I will be traveling.  Please prayerfully consider donating to my trip, anything will help! All donations are tax deductible.

There are two ways to financially donate:

  1. Via my blog [http://benbigcraft.theworldrace.org] — I will be posting regularly to keep you updated on my journey.

  2. By check. Please make all checks payable to Adventures in Missions. I have enclosed a fundraising card that must be filled out and sent with your check to the address listed on the card.

I’m so excited to begin this journey and would love for you to be involved with it!  Thank you in advance for your prayers and/or donations. I appreciate it so much!

Sincerely,

Ben
